-SUTTON COMMUNITY WORKS-

Sutton Vineyard is one of the local churches that make up Sutton Community Works – a group of churches in the London Borough of Sutton committed to putting faith into action to meet the needs of local communities.

Sutton Community Works (SCW) exists to do things that can be done better across churches than could be done individually. It is an established Charity and also has wider links with national organisational such as Gather, London Network of Networks, and the Cinnamon Network.

The Charity also acts as an umbrella organisation for Job Club, a Befriending Scheme, Prayer for Sutton and Sutton Seniors. SCW also resources the wider church with training events e.g. mental health and dementia friends training, as well as being involved in a number of local partnerships with the council, police, statutory agencies and forums.

Sutton Vineyard has members involved in all Community Works projects. You can get involved in these projects through volunteering your time and skills, giving financially, and supporting in prayer.

Sutton Community Works PROJECTS include:

-Food Bank-

Sutton Foodbank has been operating in Sutton since 2009 serving people who find themselves in Food Crisis.

If you are in need, Sutton Foodbank is here to help. Food parcels feed a person or a family for three days, offering nutritionally balanced and familiar foods.

-Community Food Shop-

The Foodshop is to help families and individuals struggling on low income and finding it difficult to make ends meet.

There is a small weekly membership fee of £3 a week. In return, you can choose from approximately 12 items of non-perishable, and chilled and frozen food. These items are of greater value than the weekly membership fee so will reduce your weekly shopping bill.

-Street Pastors-

Street Pastors support the day and night time economy in Sutton by caring, listening and helping those in need on a Friday and Saturday afternoon and night time.

They take on many tasks each night from listening to people’s life stories, helping  and caring for those who are in vulnerable states, whilst building relationships with the staff of the pubs and clubs, and local police.
